Almyra Hotel, Cyprus
A pioneer of baby-friendly designer chic is the Almyra in Paphos, Cyprus – due mainly to the fact that the three sibling owners (Natasha, Thanos and Anna) all have young children and are very much hands-on. A much talked about ‘Baby Go Lightly’ service allows parents to order every manner of baby paraphernalia online, ahead of travelling, so that in theory, all that’s left for mum and dad to do is carry baby on board the plane. The obvious benefit is that there is then plenty of room in the hold for his ‘n’ hers glamorous holiday gear that otherwise gets left behind due to the need for baby bottles, toys and nappies. With a lighter load, you’ll also be reducing your carbon footprint. Everything from a car seat in the rental car, to potties, highchairs, extra bottles and baby gyms can be waiting in the room for you. Should there be a request that baby can’t do without, there’s a team of Baby Concierges to oblige. A new Baby Go Lightly Crèche launched this year (2007) caters for all guests aged six months to four years. Run by Powder Byrne, this luxury crèche aims to provide each child with a personalised experience. A crèche manager is on hand to speak to parents before their arrival to discuss baby’s needs. Almyra also offers English-speaking nannies.
The Almyra also runs week-long yoga retreats which include full-board accomodation and all treatments, such as acupuncture, Ayurvedic Abhyanga, Indian head and other massages, and also activities. There are also yoga activities for kids.
