The original hotel on this site, in an excellent location within easy reach of major downtown sights like the Egyptian Museum and the Opera House, was legendary. It burned down in 1952 and its replacement doesn’t look exciting from the outside but inside it has character. You are so close to the river here that a Nile-view room is a must. The hotel’s Asia House restaurant has a good reputation, there’s also a Middle Eastern restaurant and 24-hour dining in the Caravan Restaurant.
