Cairo’s oldest five-star hotel is showing its age but the location, on the riverfront and right next to the Egyptian Museum and Liberation Square, is hard to beat. The rooms have traditional, rather dated décor but come with balconies and views. Nile-view rooms are the best.
This busy hotel has 11 bars and restaurants and a 24-hour casino. There are superb river and city views from the rooftop terrace bar and smart French restaurant and the hip Latex nightclub is popular both with young Cairo residents.
From January 2009, Hilton will no longer operate this hotel.
