Dusit - An Edinburgh Jewel

Located in a small street between the busy shopping and eating area that is George Street and the thoroughfare that is Queen Street this restaurant is probably one of the best Thai eating places in the UK. It's not big, so booking is advised and make sure you have an appetite when you go there because the food is very moorish. The stylish interior gives you a clue that this is not your ordinary Thai restaurant and hints that what you will eat will be a little different. Their walls are covered with contemporary Thai art and this just adds to the ambience, makings a meal here special.

The clever idea at the heart of much of their cooking is to combine local Scottish produce with traditional Thai spices and inspiration. Chicken marinated in whisky with a sesame dressing, wrapped in pandan leaf, is one of their best starters. The Pad Ped Prig Tai Ong or Gaeng Luk Gua Ong Yang both using venison are delicious. There's a daily set lunch menu that gives you two courses for under £11 and it's a real bargain.
