At Beauvallon Hotel on the Cote d’Azur, there’s a ‘Maitre de bebe’ – basically a baby butler for high maintenance mummies who want baby to be thoroughly spoilt. Duties have included escorting babies to St Tropez in the hotel’s private boat, to lunch with parents for half an hour. One Saudi Princess even paid £15,000 for use of the hotel’s suites for the day, so that she could leave the baby plus bodyguards in the hotel’s private cabanas by the pool. For ‘ordinary’ guests, the hotel is a dream for babies, with Burt’s Bees baby toiletries and special baby menus.
