La Serrania, Pollensa, Mallorca
  La Serrania

La Serrania is an inspiring, minimalist, architect-designed house in the foothills of Mallorca’s Sierra de Tramontana mountains, used for yoga, massage, writers’ and artists’ retreats. Just 50km from Palma Airport, it’s a beautiful blend of stone walls, marble and oak floors and cedar door frames. The main house has a massive, light-filled, open-plan living and dining room. Upstairs are four en-suite bedrooms with stark white walls and hand-made beds. The four bedrooms in the annexe each have a bath carved out of local sandstone and a private terrace. A lovely pool lies on a lower terrace overlooking the sea. ‘Yoga: Practicing a New Way of Being’ runs for a week next May with Thomas Michael Fortel, who has been practising and teaching yoga for over 18 years. The daily schedule consists of an early morning chant, pranayama and meditation session, a mid-morning active yoga practise focusing on dynamic and energetic poses, and an afternoon of restorative yoga. Other workshops range from ‘Cooking, walking and massage’ to ‘Art and the Attentive Traveller’.

Price: The week-long yoga course costs from £650 per person including around five hours of yoga and pranayama per day, all meals and accommodation.

Yogi rating: Celeb yoga devotees Sting and Trudie Styler are Mallorca regulars. Their masseuse/yoga tutor, Claire Farman holds healing sessions at La Serrania.
