Sunra Yoga at the Bedouin Moon hotel, Dahab, Egypt
The small holiday village of Dahab on the Gulf of Aqaba, South Sinai, a northern reach of the Red Sea, is something of a yoga find. If you’re looking for a low-key, value for money yoga week, with year round warmth and sun, this is for you. There’s also the added bonus of having access to some of the world’s most stunning coral reefs. The Bedouin Moon is a small, friendly hotel built in traditional Arabic style with Bedouin style interiors and modest rooms with either sea or mountain views. There is an inspirational yoga room with two classes per day during the week’s course including Asana classes, Pranayama, meditation and chanting. There is one free day when you might like to dive, snorkel, ride camels or Egyptian horses along the shoreline or meditate under the stars in the desert while the local Bedouin cook dinner.
Price: A yoga week costs from £350 per person including bed and breakfast and all yoga classes. Sea view rooms are an extra £6 per day.
Yogi rating: A pioneering yoga diving course is offered at the Bedouin Moon hotel working on the principle that both disciplines involve a sense of deep relaxation, a focus on breathing and a holistic approach to the environment. This Zen dive week gives an introduction to yoga and diving with a yogic approach to the latter and is suitable for beginners in both fields.
