Striped in red brick and pale volcanic tufa stone, this vast and mesmerising Romanesque church is full of wonderful frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries, and has beautiful cloisters. The great 11th-century bronze doors with their 48 panels of Bible stories can only be seen from inside and are badly lit. With so much eye-catching colour on the walls it’s easy to miss them, but they are a must-see.
