Practising yoga back home will never be the same again after a holiday at Fatuma’s Tower, a unique yoga retreat with nine rooms tucked away in the sleepy Swahili fishing village of Shela, off the East African coast. Yoga is practised daily in the large and airy studio which has slanted windows to maintain a cool air flow. Resident teachers Gillies and Monika teach Hatha and Astanga yoga and adapt the classes to suit all levels of experience and ability. Massage and selected therapies are also available in the thatched garden banda. A fantastic eight mile, dune-backed, white sand beach is just minutes away for swimming, sunbathing or a sunset stroll.
