The Saxon Hotel & Spa, Johannesburg
  The Saxon

The Saxon is Johannesburg’s most luxurious hotel and was once a private house where Nelson Mandela spent six months after his release from prison to edit his famous book Long Walk to Freedom.

Situated in a beautiful park and sumptuously furnished, its state-of-the-art spa incorporates stunning architectural features, a hydro spa with pools and wet treatment areas and other exciting health and beauty innovations. The comprehensive spa menu includes ancient Tibetan sound therapy in which healing instruments - singing bowls, cymbals, gongs and bells - use the vibration of sound to induce a deeply meditative state that leaves you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and in touch with your inner self. The treatment lasts an hour and is performed on a heated waterbed with built in colour therapy to enhance the treatment’s effectiveness. Sheer bliss!
