Intrepid travel writers Jennifer Hinkel, Katherine Hinkel, and Kirsten Teasdale are three explorers willing to go to the ends of the earth to feed their passion for geology, history and archaeology. Join them as they embark on an unexpected journey: a luxury cruise across the North Atlantic to four rugged and relatively little-known destinations. As the ship sails from east to west, it will follow a course across the North Atlantic -- a trail forged by Vikings and immortalised by the "Titanic's" fateful voyage. During the 11-day journey, the ship will dock in the Shetland Islands, Iceland, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, immersing the travellers in northern lands filled with history, nature and wonder.
Jennifer, Katherine and Kirsten will experience the "Golden Age" of travel, crossing the Atlantic on Norwegian Cruise Line's "Norwegian Jewel" from the English South Coast port of Dover to New York, NY as travellers did in the days before transatlantic flight. The writers will return to an era of gourmet cuisine, leisurely arrivals, and grand style, while adding a modern twist with digital video diaries and tales of today's top luxury in one of the largest suites at sea. Along the way, they will explore one of the 100 Shetland Islands, experience the geothermal pools of Iceland, discover the world of Leif Erickson and the Vikings in Newfoundland, and visit the graveyard of the "Titanic" -- perhaps the most infamous ocean liner of all time -- in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
