B&B Scilla e Cariddi
This family-run B&B is named after two Greek mythological figures, Scilla and Cariddi, known as Scylla and Charybdis in English. The phrase “between Scylla and Charybdis” means "being between two dangers and moving away from one causes you to be in danger from the other", so the idea they are together represents a harmonious union, and harmony is what you should find at this small B&B.
It is conveniently situated 100 yards from Pozzallo town centre (Pozzallo is in the gorgeous Baroque-styled Val di Noto), and is five minutes from the town’s seafront and long sandy beach. Although the B&B is located up a side street, and as such there are no great views, it does offer a quiet place to stay in what can be a noisy, bustling town during the height of the summer season. It is also near to the local railway station, and it takes only a few minutes’ stroll to catch a bus to nearby towns such as Modica or to Catania airport.
The staff are friendly and happy to spend time chatting about what a visitor may want to do during their stay, especially over a breakfast of cornetti (croissants) and coffee in the breakfast room on the ground floor. The B&B’s single, double and triple rooms are located on two floors, and are equipped with air-conditioning, heating, TV, and have access to a shared bathroom. It’s also possible to rent an apartment during the summer season, with 4+2 beds. Accessible via a separate entrance the air-conditioned apartments offer a kitchen, bathroom, washing machine, TV and fridge. Prices range from €20 to €35 per person a night, depending on the room chosen and time of year.
