Reichstag
The Reichstag is one of Berlin’s most recognised landmarks.
Over the years, the seat of German parliament has seen much controversy and political change but these days, it is viewed as the home of justice and truth.
In 1933, the Reichstag was practically destroyed by a fire – a deliberate blaze which many believe was politically motivated – but the building has since been rebuilt and redesigned several times.
Its latest incarnation, which features a huge glass dome, was designed by Norman Foster and finished in 1999. At first, the building’s modern design caused a lot of controversy but the Berliners have grown to love it.
You can take tours around the Reichstag and even climb to the top of the dome to get an impressive view across the city.
