When it’s cold outside and you want to snuggle up, head to Kirk Royal.
This upmarket French grill is located in the cool yet gritty Kreuzberg district where good restaurants are few and far between. Because of this, it’s a haven for the hip brigade and is often packed to the rafters.
Kirk serves up a mean steak but if you’re not stopping long, make sure you at least sample one of the drinks from the extensive cocktail list.
Although the music can often be too loud to enjoy an intimate meal, the open fire and comfy sofas in the back room make it the perfect place to escape to.
And whatever you do, don’t be put off by Kirk’s peeling floral façade – it all adds to its unique ‘shabby chic’ charm.
