Take an old river barge, moor it in the River Spree, fill it with water and what have you got? Badeschiff!
This futuristic ‘bathing ship’ is the height of coolness, loved by Berliners and tourists alike.
It’s part of a big entertainment complex but in the summer, people flock here to swim, relax on the deck and top up their tans and in the winter, the modern building turns into a fully-covered toasty haven with saunas and the suchlike. It even morphs into a mini-nightclub after dark.
Badeschiff really does have to be seen to be believed – and if you’re having trouble taking it all in, a drink or two from the bar might help.
