Dublin, the ideal weekend city

You can pack a lot into a weekend in Dublin. An easily walkable city, it offers up something of interest on every street, from the upmarket shops on Grafton Street, where the iconic Bewley’s is a must-stop for coffee, to the treasures of numerous museums housed in magnificent buildings.

Stroll elegant Georgian squares with their signature painted doorways and ornate fanlights, see the city from the water as you cruise along the River Liffey, walk the old cobbled streets of Temple Bar.

Hear traditional Irish music over a pint of Guinness in the friendliest pubs on earth. Take in a theatre or rock concert, follow in the footsteps of literary greats and the musicians that put Dublin on the music map, seek out cutting edge fashion, watch the sunset from the Ha’penny Bridge.

Treat yourself to a memorable meal at one of the six Michelin-starred restaurants, dance the night away at a hip club. For a breath of fresh sea air on Sunday, take the DART train to Howth for the farmer’s market, to sample the freshest oysters or check out the famous fish and chips.

You could spoil yourself and stay in one of the boutique hotels or plump for a friendly b&b. Accommodation options are wide and varied but hospitality comes naturally.
