Dublin tours you won’t forget
Even if you are not a tour person, Dublin has some super-fun ways to entice you to change your mind.
Viking Splash
A reconditioned vintage 1940’s amphibious vehicle (DUKW) shows you city centre and Docklands sights while an irreverent Viking maiden or rapacious rebel does the talking and gets you to roar Viking taunts at the passers-by. The splash bit is when it hits the water at the Grand Canal Docklands, where the U2 recording studios are a popular photo opportunity.
Tours take 1 hour and 15 minutes and leave from St Stephen’s Green North (Dawson Street). Regular departures occur daily (9am to 5pm) between February and November.
Fares: Adult €20, child (3-12) €10, family (2+3) €60.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Writers Bus Tour
You can’t miss this colourful bus. A real musicians’ tour bus from Nashville, Tennessee, with comfortable leather seats and audiovisual entertainment, for 75 minutes it tours the sights associated with Dublin greats, from Beckett to Bono.
There can be little the tour guide doesn’t know about Irish literature and music and the lives of their legendary figures, among them Van Morrison, Rory Gallagher, U2, Thin Lizzy, Sinead O’Connor, The Chieftains, Christy Moore, Brendan Behan and Oscar Wilde, or the studios and sites they are associated with.
Tickets: €15. Daily (group bookings only on Monday and Tuesday)

These pub-crawls-with-a-difference take place every evening at 7.30pm in summer (April to October) and on Thursday to Sunday nights in winter (November to March). There’s also a tour on Sundays, year-round, at 12 noon.
