Modern Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort combines a luxury hotel, family amenities and convenient location.

Opened in 2007, this all-suite luxurious hotel exudes freshness with its contemporary decor and furnishings that have yet to show any wear and tear. Add in daily poolside children’s activities and the prime location on the exclusive North Beach of Fort Lauderdale, and it makes for a great pre-cruise hotel or a choice for a family holiday. Numerous restaurants, cafes, and shops are within walking distance and the airport is only a ten minute drive away.

Upon arriving at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, friendly staff and a valet service eagerly greet new guests, taking baggage and rental cars off weary travelers. While I was there, a bellman even offered lollypops to my daughters explaining that they were magic lollies that healed sunburns.

The 374-room hotel has a grand two-story lobby with reception area. On the sixth floor, a 2,300 square metre terrace features a heated infinity pool and private sunning cabanas. Facing the terrace is the fitness center as well as the hotel’s restaurant Ilios, offering multi-course tasting menus (US$45) that feature a selection of tapas.

I stayed in the lowest category of room (US$239 per night), a studio suite with two queen beds. And even these suites were equipped with stainless steel appliances, sink, and all the kitchen accessories you need to cook and eat a meal. Since I had a rental car, I shopped at the local supermarket to stock up on beverages and items to make breakfasts and lunches.  But, the hotel also offers a grocery concierge if you prefer not to shop.

The rooms also feature bathrooms with whirlpool-jetted soaking tubs and a separate marble shower. The beds are comfortable with numerous pillows and a soft duvet. There is a large flat screen TV and spacious balcony for sunning. Be aware, though, this hotel charges lots for the extras such as valet parking ($29 per day) and WiFi (US$13.99 per day).
