Ilios Restaurant, Fort Lauderdale
This restaurant on Fort Lauderdale's exclusive North Beach enjoys sweeping views of the Atlantic from a sixth floor outdoor terrace of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort.
Executive Chef, Sean McDonald, was Michelin-trained in the UK, and offers an original tasting menu of hot and cold tapas, and an assortment of spoons. The spoons are the equivalent to one mouthful of a tasty morsel such as the spoon of Tuna and Tomato Tartare.
The restaurant also offers traditional appetisers and entrees with choices of steak, chicken and calamari. But then, some selections are anything but traditional, such as the Asparagus Cappuccino, which is a soup topped with truffle milk foam. For dessert, the Chef shows his roots with the Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding. Breakfast is on the expensive side, especially the hot buffet (US$28).
Hotel guests can enjoy lunch or dinner poolside in their bathing suits, and there's also a children's menu for pint-sized diners. Non-hotel guests will find the best tables outside, too. If you wish to sit inside, beware of the views of the fitness centre across the corridor. Instead, ask for a table by the terrace windows.
