Touchnote Mobile is a system that allows users to create postcards instantly, anywhere they choose, and have them sent immediately as actual postcards to any destination worldwide. Pretty cool eh?
 
This is the rebirth of the postcard for the digital age. It works like this: you are on holiday. You snap a memorable scene with your digital camera or phone camera. You send it to Touchnote with a message, name and address. They print the image as a greeting card (it’s four inches square), which is sealed in a neat printed package and sent first class to your choice of receiver. They should get it the next day.

At the time of writing you can do this either on line at their website or via some Nokia phones. Expect the list of compatible phones to grow…

Research shows that although a huge majority of us can’t be bothered to send real postcards on our travels any more, over 90% of us say we love receiving them. Now there’s no excuse - the Touchnote website is up and running and easy to work.

Ultimately the Touchnote system plans to allow travellers to create postcards instantly anywhere in the world with their phone and have them sent immediately as actual postcards to any destination worldwide.  Touchnote for Mobile allows users to simply take a photo or select an existing image from their phone, add a message and recipient’s address and send it directly from their handset via WiFi or the phone’s mobile data connection. A physical greeting card is then created from the image and sent in the post. Within the UK, these photo cards are normally delivered on the next working day, provided the card is ordered before noon.

By having an application on a mobile, people don’t need to change their habit of using their mobile to keep in touch, but will now have a physical product to show for it. As far as I can tell this is the first mobile application that creates a physical product. Postcard 2.0 starts here!
