Product Review

These ‘folding shoes’ look like some cheap ballet shoes to me. But what do I know about women’s shoes? So I asked Mrs Kitmaster - a world expert on all things to do with shoes - for her verdict. She said:

“They’re comfy and easy-to-pack but what makes these shoes really shine is that they are gorgeous, cute, trendy and look rather posh (unlike the brown, functional footwear usually associated with clever travelwear).

They feel like a luxury because they come in a sweet satin zip-up bag. You can change from your heels into these and stick the heels in the bag.

The split sole allows them to fold cleverly in half, minimizing space. The ones we looked at are grey satin pumps with a trendy black and silver bow at the toe – very cute. I love the fact that they are lined in opulent gold and have a hidden suede pad on the sole to cushion travel worn heels.

They look great with a little black dress for formal dining, or more casual linen trouser and camisole outfit.

As they are satin with a split sole, I wouldn’t wear them outside on damp and dusty streets (I’d rather walk barefoot along the sand and carry them in my handbag). These shoes are designed for the marble floors of hotel bars, mosaic tiled pool patios and the lounges of airports.

My ideal scenario: a hand luggage-only short romantic trip. Teamed with sheer hold-up stockings, slinky little black dress and sparkly earrings and the whole outfit takes up less space then a wash bag.

Or scenario two: back-packers’ treat. Tuck them right at the bottom of your back-pack ready to whip out and wear with your snazziest kaftan for when a moment of civilized dressing up boho-style is required.
