The Euromast is the highest observation tower in the Netherlands.

Built in 1960, it was designed by Dutch architect HA Maaskant and is meant to symbolise the city's maritime background.

For a fabulous view of Rotterdam, all you need to do is step inside its high-speed automatic lifts and travel up to the viewing platforms.

As they transport you 100m into the air, the lifts cleverly belt out suitable songs such as Lenny Kravitz's Fly Away and the Beatles' Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

If you don't have a fear of heights, you can even take the Euroscoop up to the top of the tower, which stands a dizzying 185m high. This rotating lift is an experience in itself and well worth doing if you have the time.

Daredevils can even sign up to abseil down the side of the tower or take on a scary zip-slide challenge.
