The Fairmont San Francisco
The Fairmont San Francisco is a luxury hotel in the heart of the city. An historical building, it lies claim to the first place that Tony Bennet first sang I left my Heart in San Francisco, and the scene of the first United Nations Charter in 1949, amongst other things. These days, the hotel is still a firm favourite with visiting digniteries, celebs and the travelling elite.
The facilities
Full on and five star, the Fairmont has pretty much every facility you could hope for under its belt. There's a renowned spa, complete with beauty salon, sauna and steam rooms and a fitness centre on-site. For business travellers, the hotel boasts an array of meeting rooms and a fully kitted out business centre. The restaurant, Laurel Court, dishes up fine French cuisine in a formal environment. There's also Cafe Centro for light meals and pastries, and the tropical Tonga Room for exotic cocktails and evening buffets.
The rooms
Each of the Fairmont's 591 bedrooms and suites is clean and traditional in style, in keeping with the rest of the hotel. All have walk-in closets, marble bathrooms, two-poster beds and all mod-cons.
