The Hotel Casablanca in New York, inspired by the film of the same name, sits pretty in the heart of Manhattan, just a few minutes walk from Times Square. It is decked out in high-Moroccan glamour, with darkwood furnishings, rich tiling on every conceivable surface and antiquated family heirlooms squirrelled away throughout.
The facilities
Rick's Cafe is a cosy lounge bar/breakfast room, located on the second floor. A complimentary continental breakfast is served here each morning, there's an assortment of refreshments ( of the cookie-and-coffee variety) available throughout the day and wine and cheese laid out in the evenings.
The rooms
Each of the Casablanca's 48 rooms shares the same heavy Orientalist décor as the rest of the hotel. The furnishings are all custom-made, and arching ceilings, ornamental mouldings and bespoke tapestries and paintings are scattered throughout. The bathrooms are spacious, with Baroness Cali toiletries (olive oil and Sicilian red orange extracts, yum).
