The Artel flagship boutique in Prague is the destination for unique and sparkling finds.

Although it isn’t the easiest of places to find on a map, once you’re beyond the Baroque store front, you’ll find yourself in a veritable Aladdin’s cave of traditional Bohemian crystal, superb modern glassware and quirky antique items.

This gem of a store is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a sophisticated souvenir of your visit to Prague and can’t quite bring yourself to invest in a ‘Czech me out’ t-shirt, novelty beer mug or similar item of touristy tat. Beneath the boutique's vaulted ceilings is an extensive collection of mouth-blown, hand-engraved crystal for the table and home, and while certainly decorative, all pieces are intended to be functional.

Established in 1998, this luxury crystal firm has successfully carved its own niche in a long-standing industry, blending fresh, inspired designs with world-renowned Czech craftsmanship. In this time, the brand has created an impressive niche for itself, creating the drink sets for Rolls-Royce Phantom, working on a range of limited edition tumblers for the late American minimalist artist Sol LeWitt and more recently, Artel has produced some fierce vases for Gucci.

Alongside the luxury crystal and glassware are elegant handmade ceramics, an exclusive line of custom jewellery and some very chic taxidermy. Plus, you’ll find an assortment of eccentric vintage objects and fabulous finds from across the Czech Republic: from 1960’s bath toys and glorious Bohemian textiles to whimsical one-off items that simply must be seen to be believed.
