Enjoy 5 star luxury at Willow Tree House, Rye
For a touch of luxury, head to Willow Tree House - a beautiful B&B worth every one of its five stars.
Located in the picturesque town of Rye in East Sussex, this charming 18th Century building has been lovingly renovated by its owners, Simon and Wendy, and despite having all the latest mod-cons, Willow Tree House has held on to all of its traditional features.
The six lavender-scented bedrooms are named after local villages and each one has been beautifully decorated, with opulent colour schemes and plush carpets.
I stayed in Fairlight - the flagship suite with a four-poster bed - but the others are equally as impressive, whether you're after a twin room or one with traditional beamed ceilings.
Fresh flowers and perfectly-placed trinkets help to make the rooms feel like a real home from home, and, with such a reasonably priced 'Honesty Bar' (think £2.50 for a beer and £10 for a bottle of wine), you'll never want to leave!
Simon and Wendy are excellent hosts who clearly delight in what they do. The couple are also more than happy to share their extensive knowledge of Rye, so if you're on the lookout for a cosy pub or a nice restaurant, just ask.
If you do need to head off in a hurry, however, make sure you leave time for breakfast. Served in the light and airy conservatory, visitors can enjoy award-winning local produce and Wendy's homemade hash browns, which are so good, they'll have you booking your return visit right away.
A fantastic find.
