Piazza Navona
recommended by
Sue Dobson
Bernini’s fabulous fountain with giants representing four great rivers, the Nile, the Plate, the Ganges and the Danube, is at the centre of this lovely oval piazza that owes its shape to the Roman sports stadium over which it was built. The maze of little streets around it are packed with cafés, antiques shops and craftsmen’s workshops.
