So crowded, day and night, it’s impossible to appreciate the graceful steps and the elegant square below. English aristocrats on the Grand Tour loved this place; Keats died in the pink Casina Rossa, now the Keats-Shelley Memorial House. Streets of expensive, designer-label shops lead off the square. Opened in 1760, the Antico Caffè Greco in the Via Condotti, favoured by Keats, Byron, Bizet, Liszt, Wagner and Casanova, still has a comfortably traditional feel.
