Mies van der Rohe designed in 1929 the Barcelona Pavilion, an icon of the Modern movement, which was rebuilt in 1959. Made with glass, steel and four different kinds of marble (Roman travertine, green Alpine marble, ancient green marble from Greece and golden onyx from the Atlas Mountains), the building hosts expositions, but it is an exhibit itself. Its glossy surfaces are reflected in the water, together with the trees. The place is a perfect integration of outdoor and indoor spaces, a peaceful atmosphere where to relax both body and soul.
