As a contrast to the Accademia, if you want accessible modern art in a light and airy setting, the recently renovated Museum of Modern Art is housed in a grand palazzo looking out onto the Grand Canal. Upstairs, the Museum of Oriental Art is heavy on Japanese armour, weapons and lacquer boxes.
