Cafe culture around Via Veneto
Strolling and dining around Via Veneto brings back memories of La Dolce Vita. Via Veneto has become worldwide famous as the street where to enjoy Roman’s Sweet Life, thanks to Fellini’s 1960 film where Marcello Mastroianni plays the “paparazzo” riding his Vespa in search for celebrities. This area is located between the centre and the North-East side of Rome, close to Villa Borghese. Today the street has no longer the allure of the fifties, but there are still luxurious hotels and a few “sweet life” places where to sit and watch people pass by (Café de Paris at n. 90; Gran Caffé Doney at n. 141; Harry’s Bar at n. 150; La Terrazza dell’Eden on the roof of the Hotel Eden at the corner of Via Veneto and Via Ludovisi, n. 49).
There are also many fine dining restaurants around Via Veneto, including spectacular seafood restaurant, Ristorante Sardegna, and Girarrosto Fiorentino which serves outstanding traditional Tuscan cuisine complemented by an immense wine cellar.
