Carlisle Bay may have kicked off the style revolution on the popular Caribbean island of Antigua. Hodges Bay Club aims to take up the baton when it opens its door on Antigua’s northern shores in October. Working together with the Syntax Group, the architects behind the much lauded and celebrity laden Chiva-Som in Thailand, Hodges Bay Club is aiming for a cool, contemporary style, blending natural materials such as stone and hardwoods, with stainless steel and glass, while integrating the charm of the Caribbean. There will be a total of 114 keys comprising 90 spacious hotel suites and 24 ocean-front apartments and houses offering the latest in 21st century tropical island living. The residential accommodation can be used by holidaying guests and should prove a draw for families or groups of friends travelling together. The ultimate residence is ‘Fathoms’, a three-storey house which sleeps up to eight adults in four bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom, al fresco shower and expansive terraces featuring an infinity spa pool. Hodges Bay Club will also have a spa, fitness centre, two tennis courts and a range of innovative dining options including Kohili a funky beach restaurant and bar with white curved canopy and stainless steel pillars.
