Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay
The Six Senses group goes from strength to strength with the opening of Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay – its first move outside the Indian Ocean and Asia. Tapping into the current zeitgeist for the Sultanate of Oman, this property is a rare case of actually pulling off an indigenous village style. Set on the northern Musandam Peninsula (known as the Norway of the Middle East for its fjord like look), it has 82 pool villas and suites. ‘The true nature of intelligent luxury’ is how the group would like you to view their new resorts and Zighy Bay might just qualify. The setting is pure drama with mountains on one side and a sandy beach at Zighy Bay on the other. Spa pool villas are divine. Spread out over two levels they have great views of the mountain fjords that rise above the azure blue waters of the bay and also direct access to the beach. There is a private spa within the villa plus an infinity-edged private pool and a summerhouse. The resort has two Arabian hamams at its award winning Six Senses Spa, exclusive Zighy souk and barbershop. From start to finish this promises to be one breathtaking hotel. Where else, for example, can you arrive as a companion passenger with the resort’s professional paraglider!
Future Six Senses Hideaways are already in development on the island of Con Dao in Vietnam and Vatulele Island in Fiji, with several more in the planning stage. One to watch indeed.
