This bit of Welsh coastline is best known for Portmerion. Squeezed under a crag above the Glaslyn estuary, the Plas Tan-Yr-Allt country house hotel was the home of romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. On the outside it’s all whitewashed, cottagey and evocative of Snowdonia. Inside things begin to get dramatic.
