If you only visit one church in Venice, make it the Frari. In this cavernous, 15th-century Gothic church, Titian’s glowing Assumption of the Virgin is framed by a beautifully carved marble rood screen, and the intricately carved wood choir stalls have finely detailed inlay ‘pictures’. Don’t miss the sacristy, where a stunning Bellini triptych has a mesmerising 3-D effect.
