Desenzano del Garda (Garda)

Desenzano del Garda is a modern and busy town founded in the Roman era. Because of its geographical position, it’s more than a holiday destination: located at the south west tip of Lake Garda, it’s the departing point of the navigation service covering the lake longitudinally. Its commercial and industrial activities have been always florid, the old port is surrounded by 16th and 17th century buildings. Worth visiting are the medieval Castello and the 16th century cathedral (hosting the painting of Giambattista Tiepolo’s Last Supper). The public transportation is good, and the place is well connected with boats, buses, trains and airports (Brescia airport is the closest). The most pleasant areas for walks are around the lake and on top of the hill where one can enjoy the view of the lake.
