A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic 18th century sea fortress spread over islands has fascinating museums, great walks, an excellent Visitor Centre and is simply a lovely place to explore. Artists and craftspeople live, work and sell their crafts here, there are summer theatre events and a good collection of cafés and restaurants.

Frequent ferries from Market Square run from early morning until 2 am and take about 15 minutes. There’s a summer (May to September) waterbus service, too.

The Suomenlinna Museum Visitor Centre is open daily 10 am - 4 pm in winter, 10 am - 6 pm in summer. Adults €5. Guided tours in English, daily at 11 am and 2 pm from June 1 to August 31, adults €6.50, children €3. There’s no entrance fee for the island.
