True to its name, meaning iceberg in Inuit, Seekoo makes extensive use of white Corian, an upmarket material, used here for the first time on the outside of a building as well as inside. This unique design hotel appears like a giant ice cube, refreshingly cool in the southern sun, with guaranteed luminosity in every room.
Seekoo is set on a corner plot in the traditional Chartrons district, a small eco-friendly hotel within walking distance of the town centre and perfectly integrated into its surroundings. The 45 suites come in a range of designs, including one with a circular bed and a panoramic corner suite overlooking the Garonne on the top floor. Large streamlined windows reflect the contours of the building, allowing plenty of natural light and engraved here and there with etchings of Old Bordeaux.
In a chic contemporary décor, the bar serves sophisticated cocktails created by the town's top chefs and doubles up as breakfast room with a buffet featuring organic products. Private parking, free internet access and a small spa, or 'rest area' with hammam, sauna and massage chair, complete the picture. Guests will find great restaurants on the river bank across the road -if you like the Seekoo decor, try the Ice Room- and a tram stop a few minutes away with regular services into town.
