The Royal Yacht Britannia
  The Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh

For over forty years The Royal Yacht Britannia served the Royal Family as the perfect floating Royal residence for glittering state visits, official receptions, royal honeymoons and relaxing family holidays. Now moored at the Ocean Terminal, Leith, the most famous ship in the world is a 5 star visitor attraction which will surprise and delight all the family. An excellent audio guide gives a fascinating history and leads you on a journey around five decks of this magnificent yacht visiting the Bridge, sumptuous drawing room, State dining room, the Queen’s small and homely bedroom, sun lounge and the Admiral’s and staff quarters. The period design and furnishings have been carefully preserved while the commentary describes the history and anecdotes about Royal life at sea.

Everything is just as it was in Britannia’s heyday between the 1960s and 80s. You can imagine the Queen Mother sitting in an armchair with a G&T, Noel Coward performing some romantic songs on the piano after dinner or recall the image of Princess Diana on deck rushing with her arms open wide to greet William and Harry as they arrived on board. Happy, idyllic times for the Royal family relaxing on a private holiday. The ghosts of the past still linger with the sound of laughter and music around this unique ship – open for us all now given the privilege to visit.

If you are visiting in August, to avoid queuing to purchase tickets, we recommend you pre-book.
