One of the world’s great art museums, here you can immerse yourself in Raphael, Rubens and Rembrandt, Titian and Tintoretto, see more Breugel’s than you’ll find anywhere else and step back into far history with the Egyptian and Near Eastern Collections.

This monumental building on the Ringstrasse, designed in the style of the Italian Renaissance, opened in 1891 to house most of the amazing imperial Hapsburg collections under one roof and the rooms displaying the masterpieces are pretty impressive.

Open daily except Monday, 10am-6pm, 10am-9pm on Thursday.

Art & Pleasure

If you love art and good food, and are in Vienna on a Thursday evening, partake of the Art & Pleasure buffet in KHM’s impressive Cupola Hall. From 6.30pm to 10pm you can eat as much as you like and keep nipping out to get your art fix in the Picture Gallery, which is open until 9pm. It costs €48 per person, which does not include entrance to the museum. They do an Art Brunch on a Sunday, too, for €47.
