Set in glorious gardens and parkland, the Hapsburg’s take-your-breath-away summer palace demands at least half a day of your time, preferably longer.

Tour the stunning staterooms and apartments in the Palace and take romantic walks through avenues of shady trees. Your climb to the hilltop Gloriette is rewarded with a great view over Vienna.

Explore the gardens with their fountains, statuary and maze, visit the giant palm house, the world’s oldest zoo, see the marionette theatre, carriage museum and more.

Schönbrunn is easily reached by underground (U4) and bus (10A) from the city.

Open daily April to June, September and October, 8.30am-5pm; July and August 8.30am-6pm; November to March, 8.30am-4.30pm. Park open daily from 6am in summer, 6.30am in winter, until dusk.
